Liberian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, reaffirmed her country’s unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Sahara region.
She made this declaration on Friday in Laayoune during the third session of the Morocco-Liberia Joint Cooperation Commission.
Speaking at a press briefing following her meeting with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, Minister Nyanti reiterated Liberia’s endorsement of Morocco’s autonomy plan as the only credible and realistic solution to the regional dispute.
She also commended the United Nations for its role as the exclusive framework for achieving a realistic, practical, and lasting resolution to the Sahara issue.
In response, Bourita expressed Morocco’s gratitude for Liberia’s steadfast support, emphasizing the country’s clear and consistent stance on the Moroccan Sahara.
Liberia’s support was further demonstrated through the opening of its General Consulate in Dakhla in 2020 and its participation in the 2021 Ministerial Conference in Support of the Autonomy Initiative under Morocco’s sovereignty.
